Is May 21st, 2011, the end of the world or what?
Well, its May 21st and everyone is still here. Apparently there is still time… no one is supposed to disappear yet until supper time. I always eat late so I guess you have a few more hours. The harbinger earthquake has been given a few different times too, but 6:00 pm seems to be a favorite. Only 4 hours left here – but I guess California has over 7 hours.

May 21st 2011 is now just hours away. Seeing all the comments below and also all the facebook “likes,” I am just marveled at the amount of exposure this one lone article has received. I kept getting this question and I had avoided answering it on this site because I am trying just to focus on Mayan predictions . However, my wife asked me about this date, my father has asked me about this date, and the emails kept on coming… so here it is”
May 21st 2011 has nothing to do with the Mayans or the 2012 date at all. May 21st 2011 is a date that has been made famous by a radio preacher from California. Harold Camping, 89, first said that the world would end in 1994 – when that did not happen he said that he had made a mathematical error and that the new date would be May 21st 2011.
According to Harold, the world was created in 11,003 B.C. and then flooded 4990 B.C. Using these two dates, Harold has decided that the 23-year tribulation started in 1988. So that leaves 2011 as Judgment day.
However, is Harold claiming the world will end in on May 21st 2011? Actually, no. Harold Camping believes that the rapture will occur on May 21st. The actual end of the world, he predicts, is October 21st, 2011.
Do I agree with Harold Camping? No, of course not. I hold no animosity for him, but I do not agree with him.

So, what about 2012?
Will the world end in 2012? The Mayan Long Count Calendar ends on December 21st 2012 (after over 5000 years). Does that mean the end of the world? No – although a lot of people do seem to think so. I think it will be the end of an age – but I also think the new age will start the next morning. Will this date be marked by a huge event of some kind? I don’t know that for sure either – lets wait and see.

Well, I believe strongly in God for many maaaany reasons, if I start asking myself questions that nobody nor even advance science can answer, I start to wonder what’s behind what our little minds know. (An example just to make my point understandable> The best theory of how the Universe came to be what it is now is the Big Bang, yet it is only a theory, saying that the universe was a hot and dense matter that is still expanding, but… um…where did that matter come from? What is outside that matter or this Universe? When did everything, and I mean EVERYTHING start? Exactly, the same as asking “Is there life in any other planet?” Maybe.
Science and religion often fight. Religion says the world was created in 7 days, and humans were created in a day, science says the Earth underwent a series of transformations during billions of years, and that humans evolved from apes during millions of years> evolution. Now have you ever thought that maybe God set evolution in motion? That is a way to look at it. Things are so perfect sometimes, and some things are so mysterious, that we can’t know.
And my point through all this is: believing in this guy, should be a shame for religious people (those who do) because of what the Bible says. Also, I do not believe that any human on Earth can ever predict the exact date, time, or location of the end of the world. I see such person as foolish at best, and I feel bad for the kids that fall for this and fear it and get traumatized as well. Such acts will sure open the gates of Hell for him.

If I heard right this apocalypse is supposed to happen by 6 p.m. and its passed that time where I am located, so is my post the last one on this subject because all know the truth now? By the way thanks to all who have posted that God only knows when it will happen, and how it will come like a thieve in the night. That means that some of us are reading our bibles and learned from that experience.
As an adult, I have always been a pragmatist and as such, I have always looked upon science for most of the answers to my questions. Science I believe, is still in its infancy however many of the questions that have been asked about the formation of the universe and the dawn of life on this planet (and possibly other planets), have already been postulated by science and its sister science, Mathematics! As well, science also has been able to give the world a sense of the future of Earth and the rest of the universe and how the slow decay by entropy will affect our universe, billions of years from now.
The average temperature of the universe at present has been calculated to be about 3 degrees Kelvin or -270 degrees Celsius. What does that mean? It means that when the last 3 degrees is lost to entropy, the universe will be no longer have ANY energy and will be frozen. However, if the search by science (and its sister science Astronomy) for more mass in the universe is successful, the universe will collapse on itself and become a singularity, a pinpoint of mass with infinite gravity otherwise known as a singularity.
Of greater concern, we should look at the life of our primary star, the Sun. Within a billion years or so, it will begin to change as the fuels it uses to provide our warmth and growth, will begin to run out. This may cause the sun to expand and will seer the inner planets of any atmosphere and water. Barren and extremely hot, Earth will be many times warmer than it is now with no life to speak of. Within another few billion years our Sun will collapse upon itself which will cause a solar Nova, an explosion which will destroy some or all of the inner planets in our solar system, including our lifeboat, Earth. Thousands of these events have been witnessed by astronomers already. They are real.

One thing i know for sure is That the Holy Bible will not lie, why i did not believe him is that his prove were from the old testament and those verse he was refering to is for the Isreal and Jerusalem of that time. The only place in the HolyBible that can give the clue is the Book of Revelation.
All i know is that we should always be vigilant and always pray for Forgiveness of sin (plsam 51) cause as we all are tallking we are comiting sin because the 9th comandment say’s we should not bear false witness against our neighbor.

If your going to decide to believe in somebodies dumb opinion, being that they can predict the end of the world by simple calculations is just ridiculous. Im not one to believe in science over faith. I do however believe that scientists are right when they say the world is a couple billion years old.. I know the Bible does not like to touch on that subject. I do however believe that God created the entire solar system, and found earth and decided to create life on this planet with all its abundant resources.. I dont believe the Bible says that God created just the earth and the day he created it, started to create life..
Now on to these doomsday prophecies… Everyone remembers Y2k… We could not even predict what our own technology was going to do to us.. The entire world was going to shut down, and nukes were going to go off everywhere and the world was going to end… THIS WAS OUR OWN TECHNOLOGY AND WE COULD NOT PREDICT WHAT IT WOULD DO!!!!!
How is anyone else on this Earth going to possibly think they can predict the second coming of Christ, or the end of the world at all.

I’m not claiming in any way to be perfect, however, I do believe if one is going to publicly post an opinion on a topic then one should do so in an informed and well organized manner. Meh. According to the Bible> “it will come like a thieve in the night”. A 6 year old knows that this means we would not know. Maybe, just MAYBE, we could get signs of destructions, but that is AS FAR as it would go. No human can ever know for sure the end of the world. Knowing that is as far as really knowing how the Universe formed and what was before the Universe. We simply can’t comprehend, not even with science. The Mayan Calendar, The Solar Storm, The Pole Shift, etc., are nothing but theories. Yes, they are simply because in science a theory is a hypothesis backed up with evidence, being experimental or observation. They are not facts. You may choose to believe or not, does it mean it is true? Not at all.
Claiming that any of these assumptions is true is foolish. We do not know for certain what will happen, or if something is going to happen. The SOlar Storm may come and not damage almost anything, the Pole Shift is not likely to happen at all, the Mayan Calendar may not mean anything after all, and vice versa. Some of these “claims” are obvious lies, like this one. I think houdini has already explained enough of this matter and why it is an obvious lie.
Something may happen, something may not. Should you live thinking about the future? Sure, if you are thinking about what college you want to go, what you want to be, or how to save money for your kid’s college. But this? It is a way to prevent you from living life fully if you take it the wrong way (ex. worrying about the end of the world, security measures for natural disasters must be taken at all times anyways). Live life happy, take care of your people, help those in need, and if you can do something to help people suffering from natural disasters like Japan, go ahead! The best saying I’ve heard is “Live every day as if it was the last”
And if this is God and Mother Nature cleaning the world for the better, then by all means I couldn’t be happier (unless you know, innocent people had to suffer or die for it)

Did you know that this crazy preacher still has programming planned for his radio stations beyond May 21st? If they are all leaving in the rapture, who is running the station? Did they hire a bunch of atheist temps from a hiring agency? Did you know that they requested an extension for filing their quarterly taxes in July? If they are leaving in May, who cares about July tax forms?

Houdini, This is not intended in a rude way what so ever at all, But Harold Camping is not a preacher. He is just an engineer and a fundamentalist, Nothing more. It’s so great to see everyone on here putting the verses from Matthew out of the bible. It makes you that much more thankful for your day, it allows you to look at life in a different point of view. We do take everyday as a given not a gift. When everyday that we are blessed with IS a gift NOT a given. We should be more thankful for each day that God blesses us with and always live it to the fullest because when you step foot out of your bed our your couch or where ever it is you will be waking up from, You have NO clue at ALL what events will be occuring on that day. People die everyday, and we need to keep our faith strong and close to God and be more thankful for each day that we are blessed with. And those of you who quit your job and left your family for all of this… No comment. But I do have sympathy for you, but you should think about reading the bible all the way through, Just a thought.

This end of the world craze makes no sense at all. For one the bible tells us no one knows, not even the angels in heaven. God doesnt want us to know the day because he wants to pop up on us basically to judge us how we are then. He doesnt want us to change just because we know the date of his coming, he wants us to change to be fit for his coming. This is why he doesnt want us to know the date. I wish people would really stop worrying about the end and just prepare for it fpr when it really does come..
And yet here is a radio preacher saying “You can know.” Of course, he has been wrong predicting the end of the world before… more than once.

Here is thought for everyone. I see so much greed in this country it is sickening. Look at our gas prices and that should speak for itself. The companies profit while the man/woman making minimum wage must worry about putting food on the table and or a roof over their head.
There are so many individuals that don’t care about their fellow human being. They don’t care about the man on the street that has no place to live because he lost his job, no fault of his own. Look at the banks that are still coming after the people that bought homes and cars, only to lose them because they lost their jobs. The collection agencies say they are doing their jobs but they have no compassion for these individuals.
While on a trip I heard a man discuss his recent purchase of a yacht for $140 million. I am sure my Mouth dropped open. $140 million could help so many poor people out. I didn’t look at him in envy but in sadness as he missed an important lesson in life.
If anything, perhaps everything that is happening will open some of the eyes of the people that for whatever reason have become so rich that they can’t think about anyone but themselves. They look down on truck drivers that have to sleep in a cab when they can, drive across the country in horrible weather, they look down upon construction people or anyone that is under them. Maybe God’s plan is Karma and it is a way to make people stop and think about what really matters in life.
It isn’t what you can carry in your arms but what is in your heart and the memories in your mind.
My happiness comes from the people that I have helped in the past when things were better for me.
The fancy clothes, the shoes, the cars, the jewels don’t mean anything when you know you have given someone a meal or a place to stay.
I don’t think the end of the world is near but I do feel that there is great change coming. I am an empathic and sense danger and death around me all my life.
I feel changes are coming and maybe we all need to reconsider what is important. A smile at a person in the morning may change their life forever. A kind word…people have forgotten the Golden Rule.

The happenings in Japan are a clear sign that we have no clue as to what to expect. This devasataion may still kill numerous people. THe Nuclear aspect of what happen in Japan alone could have killed millions.

okay. so as im reading all the comments, im wondering to myself, why is it that people have not realized that what we read in history books and the Bible(or any other religous book)are just stories passed along throughout time. Honestly, how often do you hear a story or gossip and because a person wants you to believe or think a certain way, parts or all of the story become altered. Yes i do understand that these topics are researched and evidence is examined but come on, how can you tell if its the truth if you were not there to see or hear it when it happend. History is what it is…”HIS STORY”. of course there are many people who think they can predict what will happen, they want people to fear. And in alot of cases, fear causes belief. I am a saved Christian myself and i believe that there is nothing to fear about the “end of days”. If the lord does return and the ancient predictions were right about the world ending, then it is what is supposed to happen. Who knows, we may wind up living in a better place.
We have had warning signs since 2004. This is called slow eradication of mankind, I think that this is mother natures way of cleansing the rot that mankind has and is causing. Wait, how did he find out when the giant flood happend? The only way possible of finding out such a date, is by actually finding the boat that Noah built. The bible doesn’t have an exact date on it. If this guy is a preacher, then why is he predicting the end of the world when even the bible states that “it will come like a thieve in the night”, meaning that no one or anything will know when it’s actually going to happen. Some people have to much time in their hands to be doing “Mathematical calculations” to figure out when the world is going to end. yikes.

yes god is forgiving. judgement day is when god decides who deserves to be in the new world he is going to create in armaggedonbased on the book of life. infact armaggedon is a good thing. it is when all evil is vanquished. and most importantly, when satan reaches his doom. most of the people living now have a strong chance in being saved in armaggedon.

I agree, i think it will be the start of a new dawn and end to greed and religous maddness and a beginning to a “World Without Borders” which would mean no more war and no more religous riots, just a joining of one and respect for each others prophets that God put on this world for us to learn from. Isnt he meant to be forgiving and not hipicritical? For its our ancesstors that done him wrong in the bible long ago and has brought us up in a selfish superficial world and his just gonna burn all us innocence. if he is the lord and comes wont he think bout what he has stated in his bible, love one another and he will always forgive us and always love us? then why would he come and make us suffer and burn? i didnt think he had any selfishness or angry thoughts from his bible.
wtf doesnt make sence. plus isnt there ment to be other worlds like heaven and hell apparently then other sources of spirituality like for instance my love for someone can be so strong that i would find them no matter where we go etc. so why would he come back to kill what he made when some would go to other places if he didnt take them.
right and doesnt he see the beauty out of some bad cause there would be no good if bad didnt exist. you have to take both and there is too much beauty to go and burn it and be rid of it. wheres the hearted bible lord of wonders he wrote about ? or did he lie to us?
for then why is he comeing back for revenge when he did us wrong to if he can kill the unsaved espeacially when its not our fault how we were brought up? oh well guess just have to wait and see.
just he’d be killing some of who he saves parents or children then cause everyone has there own mind up and yeh that would make the saved have second thoughts bout him for killing there family while they watch. thats not the lord that i have been told about but not brought up so strongly on for we dont know what to believe anymore.
i think if he comes he will regret it for more ppl will loose faith for the suffering he will cause upon. not a thing you will forget easily.
anyways i hope if he does plan to come he has second thoughts for he isnt thinking of the other side of the story and if he was understanding like he says he is in writing then he would see that. otherwise its his loss of worthy people he didnt give a chance to. lol guess will just have to accept it and see what comes after we die for our minds a powerful thing our soul has to go somewhere and if you are a unsaved individual that is worthy i doubt you will go to a bad place. there would have to be somewhere else think of all the spiritual energy and different higher beings and angels that guide you and many more. for they dont all live together for they all have different jobs to do to give us signs or what ever etc. there has to be other worlds what bout mind travel where you go to other worlds etc plus the minds so strong you can accomplish anything if you believe in it.

Hi, I really do not agree with this preacher who made these statements. I just wanted to make a post about what the May 2011 date meant. I tried not to attack him in my article too because I think everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I disagree aswell. Harold Camping had made another prediction that the world was going to come to an end in 1988 to where people were selling their houses, cars, and personal belongings. But when the day he had predicted had not came to an end he came up with the excuse that it was a mathematical error and concluded that the new date was to be may 21st, 2011. The bible is our basic. instructions. before. leaving. earth. and i would have to say that it states in the bible that no man nor the angels in heaven know the hour nor the date of the time the world will come to an end.
I would just like to add also, those who do believe in such predicaments; whether they come true or not. God does have a plan for everybody. He loves all of his children. Every indeed does have a chance to be saved. For all of us have sinned in our life, thats why Jesus Christ died on the cross for us so that we could be accepted for all of our sins. In the Bible it says not even the Angels know the end and no man knows…..so…..if you know the date (May 21) you contradict God, and therefor are calling God a liar and his word….so, I will pray for you all. God bless
