Five Frightening Signs the World Will End in 2012

Signs the World will End in 2012

Signs the World Will End in 2012

Mayan Calendar – 2012: the big date!  With the recent fear, curiosity, and excitement about the onset of the Armageddon on December 21st 2012, one can certainly wonder how it is going to take place.

Many wonder how this specific date was chosen. Some claim that this prophecy is just a bunch of old wives’ tales that found their way onto the internet. However, this particular predicted date was not picked out of random. Here are five terrifying reasons the world will end in 2012:

1. The Mayan Calendar

The ending of the Mayan calendar is one of the most well known signs of the apocalypse on December 21st 2012. On this very date the Mayan long-count calendar resets itself to 0.0.0.0. and restarts the next day. Thus, it suggests the end of life and rebirth. However, many skeptics argue that the Mayans believed in the beginning of a time of change and tribulation rather than death and destruction. Nevertheless, this sign definitely hints that something would happen on this date.

2. The I-Ching Prophecies

One of the most shocking revelations for 2012 involved the I-Ching prophecies. These Ancient Chinese predictions show the events of the past and future. Some research seems to indicate  that these predictions are accurate for events that have already taken place. Unfortunately one of the events foretold in the I-Ching prophecies is the coming of the Armageddon on December 21st 2012.

3. Geomagnetic Reversal

According to some scholars, the Earth is expected to go through a polar shift sometime during the end of 2012. This phenomenon involves the Earth’s North and South Pole interchanging rapidly. As a result, malfunction and confusion would occur. Animals are expected to lose direction and electronics are expected to breakdown. In addition, scientists are also expected major movement of tectonic plates which would result in many natural disasters.

(Update: January, 2011, there have been a great number of animal deaths recently that have been all over the news: 5000 blackbirds in Arkansas and Louisiana and up to 100,000 drum fish in the Arkansas river.  I do not know if these are related, but many have wondered and I have received a lot of email about a possible connection.)

Now, this type of event would normally take place over a very long period of time – yet some feel it may occur abruptly.

4. Black Hole Alignment

Another theory involves the alignment of the galactic center. It is expected that the alignment would create a combined effect of a gravitational pull between the black hole and the sun at the galaxy’s center; also known as ‘Sagittarius A’. Due to the pull, the Earth would likely face many problems. However, this incident has occurred in 1998. Research has shown that the Earth needs to be much closer to the Sun in order to face adverse effects.

5. The Web Bot

Quite a popular program, the Web Bot is a series of automated bots that search for specific keywords on the internet. On finding these keywords, the program searched for a pattern too. Apparently, Web Bot predicted the September 11th attacks and the tsunami in 2004. Now it has predicted the Armageddon on December 21st 2012.

One can question the validity of these predictions. Nevertheless, it is ironic as to how all these forecasts are pointed to one specific date and come from completely different sources. So follow the signs that the world will end in 2012 and be prepared for the worst to come. This does not mean that you begin creating a hide-away bunker right away, but it does mean that you should be more alert and not ignore the slightest warnings. The world is so updated with technology that the secret would be out before you know it.

Update:  if anyone is too upset about this article, please read the devil’s advocate article:  Ten Vital Reasons the World will not End in 2012. You will feel a lot better.

So, am I saying the world will end or not?  I cannot say because I do not know for sure.  I do not think that anyone should completely dismiss the idea of 2012.  However, I do not believe it will end the world.  Will something happen?  Even a catastrophe?  I do not know …and neither does anyone else.

UPDATE: Turkey, Texas, and California Earthquakes

Doesn’t it seem that there is a new earthquake every day?  The 3 earthquakes in the US were very mild, but they arrived on or around the date Harold Camping had predicted the end of the world… again!

The Turkey Earthquake was much more severe and we all feel very deeply for those that have lost family or even their own lives,

Virginia Earthquake hits 5.9 on Richter Scale!

Virginia earthquake

New York & Virginia Earthquake "poster" seen on Twitter!

While everyone was watching for a California earthquake, a quake strikes near enough to the nation’s capital to send shockwaves up and down the east coast. No one expects a headline to read:  “New York Earthquake” or “Washington DC Earthquake !” Yet, here we are with the largest earthquake to hit the east coast in a century.

Many people will ask:

“Was the Virginia earthquake predicted or prophesied by the Mayans?”

or

“Was the Virginia earthquake predicted by Nostradamus?”

No matter what anyone else tells you, the answer is simply no.  There is no Mayan Prophesy about any earthquakes at all as far as we know.  The connections you may have heard between the any Mayan predictions and an earthquake has been created recently.

The Mayan calendar (the long count) does come to an end on December 21st 2012.  This calendar has been running for over 5000 years and its ending is an amazing and historic event.  The Mayans would definitely have celebrated it and even viewed it with awe.

Some leading experts as far back as the 1960s have suggested that the ending of the long count could actually be Armageddon. Meaning that the event would actually hold that much significance to the ancient Mayans. There is a great deal of evidence to go against the Armageddon theory though:  Mayan Prophecy Questions Answered.

When the Japan earthquake shocked the world, there were widespread concerns about an earthquake hitting here in the US.  The theory revolved around weakening tectonic plates and the four corners of the plate near both California and Japan.  Earthquake Prediction

People just combined the two predictions together – the earthquake prediction and the Mayan Calendar Doomsday prediction.  That is how you may have heard about the Mayans predicting the Virginia earthquake.  There is no validity to it at all.

I know your next question:  What about Nostradamus predicting the Virginia earthquake? Well, that is an even easier answer.  You see, apparently Nostradamus predicted EVERYTHING!  Yep, it’s true.  The thing is, all of these supposed Nostradamus predictions are not “interpreted” until after the fact.  There was no one saying, “Hey, Nostradamus predicted a 5.9 earthquake to hit Virginia today!” However, I am certain you will find people saying just that NOW.  There will be a vague reference to something like “a rumble in the land” in an obscure quatrain and everyone will point at it and say: “Proof!  Nostradamus predicted the Virginia earthquake!” or some such nonsense. Here is more information:  Nostradamus Predictions.

So, back to the Virginia earthquake… What happened?

  • 5.9 earthquake his central Virginia (near Mineral, Virginia)
  • All nearby nuclear power plants were taken off line as a precaution
  • No deaths recorded, but there were some injuries
  • The Pentagon and U.S. Capital Building were evacuated
  • Many New York buildings were evacuated as well
  • Reports of the Washington Monument “tilting”
  • Earthquake felt from South Carolina to Massachusetts
  • People generally freaked out due to memories of 9/11 and the Japan earthquake disaster
  • Some concerned about potential aftershocks
  • Largest east coast earthquake in over 110 years – since 1897!

Planet Nibiru

Planet Nibiru

With latest technology, it is not difficult to look out into Space. Not only can astronomers search for solar systems and stars, they can also look out for any asteroid or comet heading for the Earth. However, recently one of the strangest objects have been caught advancing to the earth; the Planet X. NASA discovered the mysterious planet in 1984. However, historians have found that Planet X was depicted in tablets and wall carvings that date back to the Sumerian civilization. The Sumerians referred to Planet X as Planet Nibiru. Furthermore, the Planet Nibiru was claimed to be authentic according to a Wisconsin woman known as Nancy Lieder. She claimed that as a girl she was contacted by extraterrestrials known as Zetas, who has supposedly implanted a communications device in her brain. In doing so she received information from these aliens about the coming of Planet Nibiru. So what does Planet Nibiru have in relation to Armageddon prophesied in December 21st 2012? Furthermore, why is this issue a target for criticism?

On December 21st 2012, Planet Nibiru is expected to pass between the Earth and the Sun which would cause a gravitational pull. This pull is expected to stop the Earth’s rotation which would in turn result in a 90 degree positional or polar shift causing a shock wave of radiation from pole to pole. On the arrival of Planet Nibiru, all satellites and communications links are expected to fail. Scientists are unable to determine whether the planet would collide with the Earth at the moment. In the event it does, it is pretty certain a polar shift would not be the only cause for concern.

However, there are skeptics that claim that there is no such planet as Planet Nibiru. The prophecy concerning the Armageddon is based on other issues such as the ending of the Mayan calendar. Most believe Planet Nibiru is an internet hoax. Nancy Lieder supposedly claimed publicly that the Earth would face destruction with the coming of Planet Nibiru in May 2003. However, as soon as the date passed she had to postpone it conveniently to December 21st 2012.

As with all the prophecies regarding the Armageddon in 2012, Planet Nibiru is certainly one to take note of. Since the existence of the planet has come from different sources and ancient civilizations, it is possible to class it as a legit prediction. Until the actual time comes, there is no way of predicting which of the prophecies are true. The best way is to research on them more and prepare yourself for the worst.

Nostradamus 2012 Doomsday Prophecy: Is it True?

Nostradamus 2012 Predictions

Nostradamus 2012 Predictions

A talented medical doctor, Nostradamus was one of the most famous French doctors of his time. Born in 1503 in the small French town of Saint Remus, Nostradamus was more than just a doctor. Being a devout Christian, Nostradamus believed that he had an intuitive power to predict the future. Most would consider these forecasts to be a bunch of rubbish; however, most of Nostradamus predictions have been quite accurately foretold. Nevertheless, with accurate predictions such as the fall of Napoleon, the French Revolution, World War I and II, and September 11th attacks, it is no wonder that people are a bit worried for his prediction for apocalypse on December 21st 2012. However, are the facts true? Nostradamus had several prophecies for the 2012 doomsday, such as World War III, the coming of the Antichrist and several natural disasters. Are these predictions as accurate as he foretells or were these just the ramblings of an old man?

Nostradamus was known for his prophecies through his writings. These are 4-lined poetic verses that are known as quatrains. In his quatrains, Nostradamus predicted the 2012 doomsday to begin with several natural disasters. Furthermore, he also predicted a planet to hit the Earth. Scientists named it Planet X but Nostradamus did not name it. Although it is strange to hear a planet would pummel into the Earth, the Ancient Mayans did predict the coming of a planet which they named as Planet Nibiru. Nevertheless, some experts have found that there is a planet heading near the Earth. However, the word “near” stands for 30,000 light years away in this case. That is scientific terms for you. Nostradamus predicted a disastrous war for December 21st 2012.

Many religions have predicted the end of the world to be plagued with wars and natural disasters. Nostradamus 2012 predictions are quite similar. He also predicted the rise of a World War III led by Antichrist himself through quatrains; 50, 30 and 62. In his 30th quatrain he says, “One who the infernal gods of Hannibal will cause to be reborn, terror of all mankind. Never more horror not the newspaper tell of worse in the past, Than will come to the Romans through Babel (Iraq)”, which seems to imply that the Antichrist would arise from North Africa or the Middle East and bring destruction to the Catholic Church. Furthermore, in his 62nd quatrain, Nostradamus puts forward the name “MABUS” as the Antichrist. Some experts even suggest that it is possibly Obama or the Catholic pope! With his accurate prediction of September 11th attacks, it is quite possible to believe in his theory. However, there are those who claim that his quatrains have been misinterpreted.

There is quite a lot of room for interpretation with Nostradamus’ writings as they never actually suggest a date; rather they are just predictions of the future. Some historians believe that although Nostradamus accurately predicted some events, he did not know when they were going to happen. In Nostradamus’ letter to his son, he admits his prophecies “contain each 100 astronomic quatrains of forecasts, polished through obscurely”. In addition, he admits that these prophecies are “perpetual” and has foretold predictions up to the year 3797. If Nostradamus knew the world would come to an end, he would have definitely not bothered writing more predictions.

It is possible that Nostradamus 2012 doomsday predictions are more of a misinterpretation than anything else. However, since there have been so many prophecies from other sources, such as the Mayans, it is likely that something could take place on December 21st 2012. Keep in mind that there have been quite a lot of predictions about the end of the world. It is possible that many people are overreacting to the situation, hence relating every possible prophecy to each other. Keep an open mind, you never know what to expect. Life on Earth has been through many deaths and disasters; it is possible we will live through whatever is to occur on December 21st 2012.

Nostradamus Armageddon

Nostradamus Armageddon

Nostradamus Armageddon

Nostradamus: the French astrologer. Armageddon: the place for where the final battle will take place between good and evil. According to Nostradamus’ predictions on the seventh month of the year 1999 there was supposed to be what he described as the King of Terror, would descend from the skies to cause a great battle in the world.

Nostradamus predicts that before the age of the new millennium, the third anti-Christ will awaken, The King of Terror, King Mongol. His predictions mention that wars, plagues, and natural disasters were going to start raiding through the world, causing mass destruction.

Nostradamus suggested that the two previous anti-Christ’s that have caused destruction in the world have been; Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Putin. History has shown that these predictions have been true, since both have been very evil beings causing many problems in the world during their time. The third anti-Christ has yet to be known. Some have said that Saddam Hussein, or that even Osama Bin Laden could be this King of Terror anti-Christ that Nostradamus speaks of. Nostradamus does warn that this evil tyrant will be emerging from the Middle East. He predicts that this evil being shall lead a world war three, which shall be much worse than all other wars that have taken place put together.

Since Nostradamus predictions said that this Armageddon would take place on the seventh month of the year 1999, yet nothing has happened, it is now speculated that since September 11th, 2001, Nostradamus Armageddon has started to evolve. This Armageddon is supposed to last 27 years. Therefore it’s being said that if Nostradamus’ Armageddon has started now, it has not fully evolved to the Armageddon that Nostradamus spoke of in his predictions. So will the Nostradamus Armageddon ever take place?

Predictions of the Mayan Calendar

Predictions of the Mayan Calendar

Predictions of the Mayan Calendar

The Mayans are an ancient civilization that was skilled in astronomy and mathematics amongst many other skills. They were always a point of interest for historians and archaeologists. However, recently they have become quite a fascination for people around the world. It is simply due to the predictions brought about by the Mayan Calendar. Since the Mayans were excellent in creating calendars many use these calendars as somewhat accurate predictions for the distant future, particularly for December 21st 2012. This has brought about a speculation for the end of the world on this date and is supported by science and religion.

The Mayan calendar is actually made up of two different sections: Tzolk’in which consists of 260 days and Haab which consists of 365 days. When combined, these calendars make a cycle of 52 years known as the Calendar Round. On December 21st 2012, the Mayan calendar is to come to an end, resetting itself to 0.0.0.0. This is has led to the assumption that the world would end on this particular date. Thus, this specific date has become quite fascinating to people around the globe. So how did the Mayans consider this particular date?

The Mayan’s “Long Count” calendar marks the end of a 5,125-year era on December 21 2012. This specific date represents the conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun in close proximity with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun). However, the Mayans have not exactly predicted the end of the world to be destructive; rather they convey the beginning of a time of Great Tribulation. Nevertheless, since these Ancient Mayans are not alive today to explain their forecast most do think that this frightening prediction of the Mayan Calendar denotes the end of life. This is due to assumptions made by science and religion.

Although the Mayans were noted for their theories, science and religion does play a part with the predictions of the Mayan Calendar. Scientists have predicted many natural disasters during that period of time. They have also brought to attention the increase of solar flares on the sun which can result in disastrous consequences for the earth. Furthermore, scientists assume that the earth is to go through a magnetic pole switch. If these issues occur at the same time, the end of life is sure to follow. Religion contributes to these theories with the prophecies of natural disasters and the earth’s poles switching.

Are these prophecies and theories evidence enough that the world is to come to an end shortly? The Mayans were quite an intellectual race, but were they accurate on their prophecies? Some people assume that these theories are a waste of time; whereas, others are preparing themselves for the worst. Could the prediction of the Mayan Calendar be linked to the disastrous presumptions made by scientists and age-old religious views? Or is it possible that December 21st 2012 is to be a year of Great Tribulation rather than destruction? Either way, it is impossible to answer the question until the time arrives. It is best to be prepared with an open mind for what the future holds for us.

December 21st 2012 Doomsday: Hoax or Reality

December 21st 2012

December 21st 2012

When is the apocalypse? The question has no real answer. However, recently there have been quite a lot of predictions with relation to the date and what might happen. The new date set for the doomsday is December 21st 2012. This prediction was made by several sources such as religious sources, the Mayans, Nostradamus and the I-Ching Prophecies. Are these prophecies legit or fake? Is December 21st 2012 the real doomsday?

Several religions claim that the end of the world is close by. Nevertheless, a set date has not been revealed. In the Christian Bible, the events for the Armageddon are predicted but there is no specific date to be aware of; however, it implies a warning for any day in the future. However, the Christian Bible does mention several natural disasters before the doomsday arrives. Furthermore, the Bible predicts an end with a war between good and evil: Armageddon. These views are similar to those foretold in the Qu’uran and the Jewish Bible. In Hinduism similar prophecies have been claimed in their inscriptions. These predictions are similar to what Nostradamus foretold.

Nostradamus was a talented French doctor born in 1503. A devout Christian, Nostradamus believed he had the intuitive power to foretell the future. Although there are many sceptics against Nostradamus, it still remains that this talented doctor has accurately foretold many events, such as the fall of Napoleon, the French Revolution, World War I and II, and September 11th attacks. Thus, the prediction of the December 21st 2012 doomsday is rather difficult not to take into account. Nostradamus also implied quite a destructive ending with the onset of natural disasters that lead onto World War III. He indicates in his writings that this war is based on a religious level in contrast to the previous World Wars. He also states that this war is going to be led by the antichrist himself and would last up to 72 years until the final judgment day. This destructive ending is quite similar to that foretold by the I-Ching Prophecies.

Several thousand years ago, an Ancient Chinese Emperor decided to put down certain predictions which are collectively known as the I-Ching Prophecies or the “Book of Changes”. He also predicted the December 21st 2012 doomsday in these writings, with the mention of death and destruction. However, the first prophecy made about the December 21st 2012 doomsday was the Ancient Mayans.

The Ancient Mayans were a developed civilization, skilled in mathematics and astrology amongst much flair. With their astrology skills and several calculations later, they made a calendar foretelling the future. They prophesied the end of the world on December 21st 2012 with the end of their Long Count calendar, that depicts the end of their fourth world period. This 5,125 year old calendar is responsible for forecasting other prophecies accurately too.

At the end of the day, it is up to you to decide on what you want to believe. There are certainly quite a lot of prophecies that have come about with regards to the doomsday on December 21st 2012. The best way to deal with this situation is to prepare one’s self for the future. Research on these sources and prophecies is the best way to find out all the information regarding the December 21st 2012 doomsday.

Nostradamus Prophesy

Nostradamus Prophesy

Nostradamus was one of the most famous people in the course of our history. He was well known for many of his predictions for the future. However, one of his most famous forecasts is his World War III prediction. This prediction was one of Nostradamus prophecies for the onset of the Armageddon.

Born in 1503 in Saint Remi of France, Nostradamus was quite a talented student which allowed him to pursue the medical field and finally become a doctor. He was also an expert in various languages such as Latin, Hebrew, Greek, etc. However, amongst many of his flairs Nostradamus was an excellent astrologer.

Although faithful to Christianity since childhood, Nostradamus believed he had an intuitive power to predict the future. He would note his prophecies usually as 4-lined poem verses making up the book known as “Century”. Most of his predictions have been made more than 1500 years after his death and are quite accurate, including the fall of Napoleon, the French Revolution, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the fall of Hitler, etc. Not only was World War III was amongst one of his most frightening predictions but it was one of Nostradamus’ prophecy for the Armageddon.

World War I and World War II were wars based on establishing supremacy of one country over the other. However, World War III is supposedly based on a religious level. Nostradamus foretold the coming of a king of destruction, in human form. It is predicted to be brought upon by many natural disasters. The war is to last for up to 27 years with and endless amount of suffering. Chemical weapons are to be the main use of force. Furthermore, Nostradamus was convinced that destruction would befall the city of New York. In his writings Nostradamus include, “The sky will appear to burn from the 45th parallel and the fire will approach the great city”. Nevertheless, Nostradamus did reveal that mankind will finally understand their mistakes and the world would begin again in a Golden Age.

Many argue that Nostradamus’ prophecies are just fibs. Since many of Nostradamus’ predictions have not taken place too, it is quite difficult to believe which of his many predictions are to come true until the very moment. Nevertheless, if a religious war is to happen, it is best to prepare ourselves in order to avoid it. It is only when we give in to our selfish ways do we destroy, not only others, but ourselves.

Nostradamus Predictions for the Future

Nostradamus Predictions

Nostradamus Predictions

The infamous Nostradamus was a renowned French doctor and remarkable astrologer. Born in 1503 in Saint Remi, he has become quite popular 500 years later for the simple predictions he made. Many people believe in his forecast; however, there are others who deem this as just a bunch of hocus pocus. Nostradamus predictions for the future have been used in a variety of ways, including propaganda “Nostradamus leaflets” during the Second World War by German and allied pilots.

Amongst many other predictions Nostradamus forecast the apocalypse on December 21st 2012, which has been quite shocking for people around the world. This is due to the countless number of prophecies found in the Nostradamus writings. In one of Nostradamus’ major work of predictions, known as “The Centuries”, he predicted the rise and demise of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi regime and Mussolini. The French doctor and astrologist made the prediction about the apocalypse in the year 2012 based on an astrological alignment of the earth. This would eventually precipitate a cataclysmic event. Furthermore, he foretold many natural disasters that would occur in the future that reveals the end of the world, such as massive comic collision, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and environmental issues. However, many people do question the logic of Nostradamus.

Nostradamus claimed that his prophecies were based on a combination of astrological study and divine inspiration. Since his predictions are based as a result of random chance and creative interpretation, this has led to many skeptics against Nostradamus. There has been no scientific proof to validate Nostradamus’ predictions. Moreover, since most of his writings are rather vague it is not right to directly relate them to the disaster or even that takes place. Nostradamus has predicted many disasters in the previous years, including asteroids hitting the earth in the year 1999 and 2000. In addition, Nostradamus foretold another failed prediction of global disaster with war and famine in the year 2000. Obviously, since these predictions have not come true, many doubt Nostradamus’ writings.

If Nostradamus’ predictions for the future were reliable, shouldn’t the world be preparing for the end of life on December 21st 2012? Moreover, if he had predicted disasters such as the destruction of the World Trade Center’s 500 years ago, why was it not prevented? There is no evidence yet of the world ending on December 21st 2012. It is always best to prepare for the worst, but it not logical to follow Nostradamus’ prediction strictly. This will only create arguments and distress. Let us just hope that Nostradamus’ predictions for the future are just prophecies and live happily.

Understanding the Prophecy for 2012

Prophecy for 2012

Prophecy for 2012

The year 2012 has become an interest to those that believe in the ancient traditions. However, quite soon, people around the world would be depending on these cultures to guide them through the future. The 2012 prophecies include those made by the Ancient Mayans, Nostradamus, and Religion.

The cause for concern about the world ending in the year 2012 was brought to attention by the prophecy of the Mayans. This ancient civilization existed several thousand years ago in the area that is now known as Central Mexico. Though a bloodthirsty society, they were talented in mathematics and astrology amongst many talents. Furthermore, they were rather obsessed with time and believed that there have been four worlds so far. Each world ends in about 5,000 years and then a new world begins the next day. The Mayans alleged that we are currently living in the fourth world. They made up a calendar known as the Long Count calendar. Like all calendars end, the Mayan calendar is to reach an end on December 21st 2012. Unfortunately for us, this might be a 2012 prophecy for the end of the world. Moreover, Nostradamus, an essential historical figure, has predicted the same fate on the same date.

About 500 years ago an important individual in the course of our history was born; Nostradamus. This French doctor was renowned was his famous predictions. Moreover, most of his predictions were accurate as well, such as the Fall of Napoleon, Fall of Hitler and the World War I and II. Alas, Nostradamus also predicted the world to reach an end on December 21st 2012. Yes, the same date as the Mayan 2012 prophecy. However, unlike the Mayans, Nostradamus predicted quite a destructive end to life on Earth with onset of World War III. He also stated that unlike the previous world wars, World War III would be a religious-based war. Additionally, Nostradamus prophesied the war and suffering to last up to 72 years! These 2012 prophecies are quite similar to that predicted by religions.

Religion is quite important to many people around the world. Most religions predict the end of days. The Christian Bible and the Qu’uran have similar views on what the end of the world has to offer. Although a date has not been set, these religions do predict events similar to those prophesied by the Mayans and Nostradamus.

Are these 2012 prophecies going to take place as foretold? We would never know till the time comes. However, the best way to deal with these situations is to prepare for them. Research is the best way to understand these prophecies made about the year 2012. At the end of the day, survival is the key to any future.

Mayan Calendar Prophecy

Mayan Calendar Prophecy

Would the world really come to an end on December 21st 2012? Well according to historians, the Mayans are the root of all this anguish. However, some people deem these theories to be just rumours made to cause more drama to this ever increasing dramatic world. So for the rest of us that are new to these theories, which side should we take? In order to answer this, it is best to research about the Mayans and this infamous calendar.

The Mayans were a notorious ancient civilization that reigned in the country now known as Mexico. This group of people were recognized for their rather harsh methods of living. Although a ruthless culture, they were a skilled race, namely in mathematics and astrology. Through their cruel methods and several calculations, they were able to create a calendar quite similar to the lunar calendar that is used today. This is known as the Mayan Long Count calendar, which represents the fourth world. So far there have been three worlds before. However, their 5,125 year old calendar is to come to an end on December 21st 2012 and reset itself to 0.0.0.0. the next day. The fourth world will reach its end and the fifth world would begin the next day. According to the Mayan writings, the existing era would reach its end and a new one will begin.

Some experts consider the theory behind the end of the calendar to be on a metaphorical level. The Mayan writings suggest that on December 21st 2012 the world would enter a transition in thought and consciousness. On the other hand, others are terrified that the Mayan calendar shows disastrous consequences in the year 2012, probably even eradicating life on this earth.

There are many theories that support the Mayan calendar in the year 2012. Nostradamus, religion, and several scientific finds have shown that the world can come to quite a destructive end. Whether or not life would continue to exist is the question that could never be answered. However, here are some interesting facts that support the theory of the end of the world on December 21st 2012:

  • St. Malachy, the prophet, predicted that the last Roman Catholic pope is to be of the Benedictine Order. Uh oh! The current pope is Benedict XVI. Keep in mind, there have been popes in the past in the Benedictine order so you do not have to get over-excited.
  • The Ancient Chinese prophecies known as the “Book of Changes” or the I-Ching Prophecies has signified the end of the world to be sometime in the year 2012.
  • Scientists have found that during the year 2012, the number of solar flares on the sun would increase up to a point that could affect the Earth terribly.

Although there have been many theories put forward suggesting that the world would end in the year 2012, keep in mind that there were many theories put forward for other dates as well such as Y2K and May 2003. It is possible that the only reason we are hearing about it more today is because of the widely-used internet.
