Five Frightening Signs the World Will End in 2012

Signs the World Will End in 2012

Mayan Calendar – 2012: the big date!  With the recent fear, curiosity, and excitement about the onset of the Armageddon on December 21st 2012, one can certainly wonder how it is going to take place.

Many wonder how this specific date was chosen. Some claim that this prophecy is just a bunch of old wives’ tales that found their way onto the internet. However, this particular predicted date was not picked out of random. Here are five terrifying reasons the world will end in 2012:

1. The Mayan Calendar

The ending of the Mayan calendar is one of the most well known signs of the apocalypse on December 21st 2012. On this very date the Mayan long-count calendar resets itself to 0.0.0.0. and restarts the next day. Thus, it suggests the end of life and rebirth. However, many skeptics argue that the Mayans believed in the beginning of a time of change and tribulation rather than death and destruction. Nevertheless, this sign definitely hints that something would happen on this date.

2. The I-Ching Prophecies

One of the most shocking revelations for 2012 involved the I-Ching prophecies. These Ancient Chinese predictions show the events of the past and future. Some research seems to indicate  that these predictions are accurate for events that have already taken place. Unfortunately one of the events foretold in the I-Ching prophecies is the coming of the Armageddon on December 21st 2012.

3. Geomagnetic Reversal

According to some scholars, the Earth is expected to go through a polar shift sometime during the end of 2012. This phenomenon involves the Earth’s North and South Pole interchanging rapidly. As a result, malfunction and confusion would occur. Animals are expected to lose direction and electronics are expected to breakdown. In addition, scientists are also expected major movement of tectonic plates which would result in many natural disasters.

(Update: January, 2011, there have been a great number of animal deaths recently that have been all over the news: 5000 blackbirds in Arkansas and Louisiana and up to 100,000 drum fish in the Arkansas river.  I do not know if these are related, but many have wondered and I have received a lot of email about a possible connection.)

Now, this type of event would normally take place over a very long period of time – yet some feel it may occur abruptly.

4. Black Hole Alignment

Another theory involves the alignment of the galactic center. It is expected that the alignment would create a combined effect of a gravitational pull between the black hole and the sun at the galaxy’s center; also known as ‘Sagittarius A’. Due to the pull, the Earth would likely face many problems. However, this incident has occurred in 1998. Research has shown that the Earth needs to be much closer to the Sun in order to face adverse effects.

5. The Web Bot

Quite a popular program, the Web Bot is a series of automated bots that search for specific keywords on the internet. On finding these keywords, the program searched for a pattern too. Apparently, Web Bot predicted the September 11th attacks and the tsunami in 2004. Now it has predicted the Armageddon on December 21st 2012.

One can question the validity of these predictions. Nevertheless, it is ironic as to how all these forecasts are pointed to one specific date and come from completely different sources. So follow the signs that the world will end in 2012 and be prepared for the worst to come. This does not mean that you begin creating a hide-away bunker right away, but it does mean that you should be more alert and not ignore the slightest warnings. The world is so updated with technology that the secret would be out before you know it.

Update:  if anyone is too upset about this article, please read the devil’s advocate article:  Ten Vital Reasons the World will not End in 2012. You will feel a lot better.

So, am I saying the world will end or not?  I cannot say because I do not know for sure.  I do not think that anyone should completely dismiss the idea of 2012.  However, I do not believe it will end the world.  Will something happen?  Even a catastrophe?  I do not know …and neither does anyone else.

NASA Finds DNA in Meteorites from Space

NASA, Meteorites, and DNA

NASA says meteorites have DNANASA has found DNA building blocks in an unlikely place – in meteorites.  That’s right, space DNA.  The idea is that similar rocks could have struck the Earth ages ago and therefore contributed to life on our planet.  Harold Camping would be going absolutely ape shit right now.

This discovery begs the question – if meteorites struck the Earth and affected life here… are they still impacting the Earth now?  If they are, what influence do they have on life here?

I know when you read about a meteorite on my website you are expecting me to talk about “the big one.”  But what if the concern here is not the big one… what if we should be more concerned about all the little ones?

Since the 1960s meteorites have been found housing DNA.  In the most recent studies, Michael Callahan believes that the DNA found actually came from space and not a result of contamination from Earth.  Twelve meteorites were tested and they contained adenine and guanine which are components of DNA.  Besides those components there was hypoxanthine and xanthine found as well as necleobase analogs.  The necleobase analogs are what shows the scientist that these specimens came from space since they are not usually seen in biology.

So over the years these meteorites have been striking Earth and bringing with them the building blocks of life – DNA.  What does this mean?  It could mean that life on Earth has been created from other entities from space.  Have these meteorites and their DNA been changing Earth as we know it?  Perhaps.

Many people believe that a meteorite or multiple meteorites will one day hit the Earth and cause the end of the world, maybe in 2012.  Maybe what is actually going to happen is a meteorite will strike Earth and just alter life as we know it.  That could mean many things.  Maybe the new life would make human life obsolete.  Maybe it could contaminate life and wipe humans out.  Maybe the loud explosion is not what we should fear, but the slow, deliberate, and silent DNA attack.

One thing is for certain, Earth is being bombarded with meteorites containing space DNA… alien DNA.  Of course, some believe this DNA contributed to life on Earth and our own DNA.  So who is the alien now?

Many people worry about a big meteorite crashing into Earth and destroying life in the near future (such as in 2012).  These people could be wrong.  The end of the world may be happening in smaller increments as we speak.  Or, perhaps not the end at all – perhaps just as the Mayans say “a new beginning.”

Just offering up this slightly off-beat article will get me some attacks from the Harold Camping’s out there, but doesn’t the Bible talk about a new heaven and a new Earth?  Who is to say this isn’t what the Bible means?

Solar Maximum and Solar Minimum

Solar Maximum 2012

Solar Maximum

The solar storm works in approximately an 11 year cycle. There is solar minimum (the least amount of solar storm) and solar maximum (the greatest amount). The last solar maximum was in 2001 and the last solar minimus was in 2006. The next solar max is predicted for 2012.

An article was published on NASA’s website in 2006 (during the last solar minimum) titled Solar Storm Warning . This article by Science@NASA’s Dr. Tony Philips explains that the 2012 solar max will be the greatest since 1958 (when the Northern Lights were visible in Mexico).

“The next sunspot cycle will be 30% to 50% stronger than the previous one.” Mausumi Dikpati of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR)

The solar maximum image credit is to Lockheed Martin Solar & Astrophysics Lab, Yohkoh SXT and Kitt Peak National Solar Observatory.

The Solar Storm Warning article was published by NASA and is still on the nasa.gov website.  This article is quoted en masse by just about every believer in 2012 as being scientific evidence of a catastrophe. The article certainly doesn’t say anything about catastrophe – just potential problems with modern electronics and satellites that were non-existent during the last large solar max in 1958.  Cell phones and GPS are probably in for a tough ride.

However, NASA cannot shirk the responsibility for having perpetuated a little bit of the 2012 phenomenon – even though it was unintentional and probably unavoidable.

That was 2006 and now we are in 2011 and still waiting for the solar max to arrive.

2012 Solar Max

So what does all this have to do with 2012 and Mayan Predictions?

The Mayan Long Count Calendar ends in December of 2012 after over 5,000 years.  In 1966 Dr Michael Coe said that the end of the Mayan calendar may coincide with Armageddon. Since that time, people have argued back and forth about what the ending of the Mayan calendar means.  Some say Armageddon and disaster and others say rebirth and renewal and still others say that the end of the Mayan calendar means absolutely nothing.

Many who believe in the doomsday theory have combined the ending of the Mayan calendar with quotes from Nostradamus and, yes, even the 2012 solar maximum.

One expert quoted in the 2006 article said that the solar max may come earlier – even in 2010 or 2011.  If that had happened, then there would not be as much talk about the 2012 solar maximum.  However, Mausumi Dikpati of the National Center for Atmospheric Research has said all along that the solar max would arrive in 2012.

NASA 2012 Solar Storm

There is another article from nasa.gov that claims that new experts now believe the next solar maximum to be as late as 2013 and to be relatively weak.  Isn’t that convenient?

This second article, New Solar Cycle Prediction, comes from 2009 and is after all the attention was brought down on the 2012 date.  The second article decides not to quote any of the experts from the first article and even includes a handy graph.

Both articles from 2006 and 2009 do state that the solar storm is still mostly unknown and unpredictable.

I will tell you what I think:

  1. The first article was honest.  It did not claim any disasters, just predicted a 2012 Solar Max for the ages.  I sincerely doubt the author knew he was about to open Pandora’s box.
  2. The second article is NASA bowing to pressure.  I think you can always find a second expert to disagree with your first expert.

So, is NASA lying?  When I first started researching this post that you are reading now, I thought NASA was lying through their teeth because they looked stupid for inadvertently promoting the 2012 doomsday theory.  Now… I still think that.  However, it may be possible that NASA truly does not know what the hell is going to happen during the solar maximum or when it is going to actually occur.  Remember, we have not had a major solar storm since 1958 (the same year that the US launched their first satellite.)

Well, what do you think about the solar max?  I hope you at least found this post enjoyable.  Please recommend this article on Facebook and Twitter and leave me a comment below – I will answer it very quickly.

For now, here is the coolest video I could find on the solar maximum:

Planet Nibiru

Planet Nibiru

With latest technology, it is not difficult to look out into Space. Not only can astronomers search for solar systems and stars, they can also look out for any asteroid or comet heading for the Earth. However, recently one of the strangest objects have been caught advancing to the earth; the Planet X. NASA discovered the mysterious planet in 1984. However, historians have found that Planet X was depicted in tablets and wall carvings that date back to the Sumerian civilization. The Sumerians referred to Planet X as Planet Nibiru. Furthermore, the Planet Nibiru was claimed to be authentic according to a Wisconsin woman known as Nancy Lieder. She claimed that as a girl she was contacted by extraterrestrials known as Zetas, who has supposedly implanted a communications device in her brain. In doing so she received information from these aliens about the coming of Planet Nibiru. So what does Planet Nibiru have in relation to Armageddon prophesied in December 21st 2012? Furthermore, why is this issue a target for criticism?

On December 21st 2012, Planet Nibiru is expected to pass between the Earth and the Sun which would cause a gravitational pull. This pull is expected to stop the Earth’s rotation which would in turn result in a 90 degree positional or polar shift causing a shock wave of radiation from pole to pole. On the arrival of Planet Nibiru, all satellites and communications links are expected to fail. Scientists are unable to determine whether the planet would collide with the Earth at the moment. In the event it does, it is pretty certain a polar shift would not be the only cause for concern.

However, there are skeptics that claim that there is no such planet as Planet Nibiru. The prophecy concerning the Armageddon is based on other issues such as the ending of the Mayan calendar. Most believe Planet Nibiru is an internet hoax. Nancy Lieder supposedly claimed publicly that the Earth would face destruction with the coming of Planet Nibiru in May 2003. However, as soon as the date passed she had to postpone it conveniently to December 21st 2012.

As with all the prophecies regarding the Armageddon in 2012, Planet Nibiru is certainly one to take note of. Since the existence of the planet has come from different sources and ancient civilizations, it is possible to class it as a legit prediction. Until the actual time comes, there is no way of predicting which of the prophecies are true. The best way is to research on them more and prepare yourself for the worst.
