A 6.8 magnitude earthquake has struck Myanmar near the China and Thailand border. This quake is only 5 days after the extreme Supermoon. Is the Myanmar earthquake related to the Supermoon?
Hello everyone, I am updating this article live at the Supermoon! What an awesome sight. The sky is so clear here.
I am glad that there have been no further earthquakes or tsunamis. So, was it a coincidence? If so, that is two major earthquakes and tsunamis right before a supermoon in the last 6 years. Still, I guess it can be a coincidence.
The next supermoon is April 18th, but the next extreme supermoon (like this one) is November 14th of 2016. Will there ever be another earthquake or tsunami right before a supermoon? If so, will the third such instance make a believer out of us all?

Did the Supermoon cause the Japan earthquakes?
I am getting tons of traffic and comments on the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. One of the most interesting questions is: Did the Supermoon cause the Japan earthquakes? Whenever I get a really interesting comment or question like this one, I try to write a post about it as quickly as possible.
So I figure that there are really 3 basic things that need to be addressed:
What is the Supermoon?
When is the Supermoon?
Did the Supermoon cause the earthquakes?
What is a Supermoon?
Simply put, a Supermoon (or super moon) is when the moon is closer to the earth than normal. Astrologer Richard Nolle actually predicted that the next Supermoon would cause… wait for it… earthquakes and tsunamis among other natural disasters. Most people laughed at him – of course, they are not laughing now.
Nolle has actually called the next Supermoon an “Extreme Super Moon” because it will be that much closer to the earth. As close as it has been since 1992.
When is the Supermoon?
The next Supermoon is actually only a few days away – March 19th. The moon will be full and extremely close to the earth. The moon actually gets close to the earth several times each year – just not THIS close. The moon only gets this close every 20 years or so: 1992, 1974, 1955.
Did the Supermoon cause the earthquakes and tsunami?
The experts say no.
I say that there was another undersea earthquake in the Indian Ocean on December 26th of 2004. The resulting tsunami killed over 200,000 people in several countries. The catch? Another Supermoon (just not as close, not an extreme Supermoon) occurred on January 10th 2005 – just 2 weeks later.
Here we are just over a week away from this extreme Supermoon and we have one of the largest earthquakes in recorded history.
So, do you think there is a connection? I will tell you this: anyone who completely denies the connection outright is a fool. Do you want to call it a coincidence and say that the Supermoon hasn’t occurred yet or isn’t at its strongest and therefore could not be the culprit? Well, you go right ahead.
Some people have asked about any connection between the writings of Nostradamus and the Supermoon. Nostradamus does not specifically talk about a super moon, but he certainly describes images that have been translated to mean rogue moons, comets, or asteroids: Nostradamus and 2012.
Another earthquake off the coast of Japan has created another tsunami. Fortunately the 6.5 (some reports say 6.8) magnitude earthquake was relatively shallow. The resulting tsunami was small and the tsunami warning was canceled not long after. The location of the earthquake was near the 9.0 magnitude earthquake from March 11th that triggered a massive tsunami.
This merely proves that the location is still very unstable. Aftershocks are expected and have been occurring with regularity in the area, but this recent quake was pretty powerful for an aftershock over 2 weeks later.
Japan Radiation Levels One Million Times Normal – Report Was Incorrect – Only 100,000 times normal
There was an earlier report that the radiation levels at the Number 2 reactor in Japan were one million times normal. That story reported by CNN was pretty alarming and seemed a huge set-back in Japan’s attempt to avert an even worse nuclear meltdown disaster.
Now CNN is reporting that their report was in error. The owner of the plant says that he made an error (after the Japan government questioned his report) and now says that the radiation level is now only 100,000 times normal.
Which is the truth? Is the radiation level in the plant one million times normal or 100,000 times normal? Does it really matter? I mean, yes, it matters in that one reading was 10 times higher than the other… and the second report may have been coerced by the Japan government. However, 100 thousand or one million – they are both just way too high.
The newest reports coming out of Japan say that 3 of the nuclear reactors were probably breached after the earthquake.
Is Japan the next Chernobyl?
Nuclear Reactor Meltdown
The events that have occurred in Japan over the past few days are tragic. A country that is economically sound is brought to its knees in a matter of minutes.
Friday March 11th, 2011, at 2:25pm in the afternoon an earthquake measuring 9.0 (originally stated a 8.9) on the Richter scale struck near the city of Sendai, Japan. The city of Sendai is approximately 1000 miles from Tokyo.
This was just the beginning of the epic and catastrophic events that would follow.
Shortly after the earthquake, emergency response was well under way when reports started to come in about a potential tsunami that had formed as a result of the earthquake. At 4pm a wave measuring over 10 meters high hit the coast of Honshu which is an island located on the east coast of Japan. The destruction was quick and devastating. Cars, boats, buildings, and people were swept inland in a matter of seconds. Buildings were crumbled as if made of paper; the loss of lives at this point was unknown but feared to me many. By supper time Naoto Kan announced a state of emergency, he also voiced concern regarding the nuclear plants.
By 8pm reports began leaking that the nuclear power plant was in fact in jeopardy. The cooling system for the reactor in Fukushima and a fire at the Onagawa plants were the main problems at that time. Soon after Kan declares a nuclear emergency and orders the evacuation of residents of Fukushima.
By 11pm the fires at the Onagawa plant were under control, but the Fukushima plant was running on emergency power. Experts increased the evacuation area by another mile.
Aftershocks continue to rock the area.
Early Saturday morning, engineers were on site at the Fukushima reactors, there was great concern with regard to the limited power and potential loss of power entirely. Their worse fears were met when testing was complete and radiation levels in the area were extremely high. They immediately expanded the evacuation zone to 10km.
The aftershocks and continued devastation is taking its toll on the entire country and has spread globally at this point. Experts are quickly assessing the situation and there are grave concerns that there may be a meltdown. At approximately 3:45pm a massive explosion rocks the nuclear power plant. Plant workers are injured as part of the structure is reduced to rubble. Emergency officials are extremely concerned at this point and further expand the evacuation zone.
The cooling system has been severely damaged and experts decide the best way to continue cooling the site is to flood it with seawater. This order comes down at 10pm and is immediately implemented.
As night fell on day 2, the town of Minamisanriku has been completed washed away. Out of a population near 20,000, half cannot be located.
By Sunday morning the evacuation area around the nuclear plant has been further expanded putting close to 150,000 people out of their homes. Additional reactors at the Fukushima site are now affected with power loss and are quickly heating up. At this point 5 or 6 reactors may be undergoing meltdown.
The radiation levels in the area are still critically high. Prime Minister Kan is informed that the other reactors may also explode and there is high potential for further meltdown. The area is continually rocked with aftershocks. At approximately 9pm, experts gain control of the third reactor and are hopeful that there will be no additional meltdown.
Slowly relief begins to arrive in the area, search teams fitted with protective gear search for survivors. Humanitarian aid arrives, the lack of water and food is a huge concern. Surrounding towns and cities are quickly seeing an influx of refugees and there is no food.
Just before midnight Mt. Shimoedake, a volcano in the south of Japan, erupts. Clouds of black ash riddle the air. Continued aftershocks shake the country, some felt in Tokyo.
At 10am a huge aftershock that measured 6.2 on the scale shakes the area. Fears of an additional tsunami are widespread.
Had this 9.0 earthquake taken place in Tokyo, the death toll would be likely be in the millions. The city of Tokyo has a population of roughly 12 million. The surrounding cities of Narashino, Misato, Asaka, and even Yokohama would also have been affected. If you look at the map of Japan, and picture the epi-center in or around the bay, it would be horrific. This particular earthquake was the largest to ever strike the country of Japan and one of the 10 worst quakes in history.
So what does all of this mean with relation to the Mayan predictions and those of Nostradamus? The thoughts and feelings of some suggest that these events are just one chapters in a widespread global issue. This sad event provides proof that we truly are unprepared for some of the things nature can throw at us. The nuclear aspect of this event shows that man has truly not thought out the possibilities of multiple disasters affecting one particular area. There is evidence that they were prepared for an earthquake (although not a 9.0), but that the tsunami and additional emergencies and disasters were more than Japan could bare.

The Japan earthquake has been upgraded to a 9.0 magnitude earthquake.
Most Recent update – March 16th
The reactors continue to spew radiation.
4,000+ dead, nearly 8,000 missing
MOST RECENT UPDATE (march 13th)
Volcano in Japan erupts:
Oh man, if the poor people of Japan are not having enough problems with the 9.0 earthquake, tsunami, numerous aftershocks as high as 7.4, the nuclear reactor meltdown, and even another 6.6 earthquake in Tokyo… now the Shinmoedake volcano on the island of Kyushu (southern Japan) has erupted again.
This volcano recently erupted in January, but had been quiet. However, recent events have seemed to unleash nature’s fury of the nation of Japan.
Another earthquake has struck Tokyo – a 6.6.
Current NEWS:
They are predicted over 1,000 dead in Japan. Some areas of Japan are just devastated. CNN actually called the earthquake apocalyptic.
This is the largest earthquake to hit Japan in recorded history.
The first wave is now hitting the coast of Hawaii – it is 8:32am est. They say the first wave is not the worst wave – they are expecting the next waves to be even larger. Not much information yet.
There is also a report of a population evacuation around the nuclear power plant Fukushima.
200-300 bodies have been discovered plus another 60+ already dead.
After the Earthquake, World Financial and Stock Market Trends:
Normally after a disaster such as the Japan earthquake there is a massive response in the stock market. One difference for Japan is that Japanese investors tend to sell off foreign investments and therefore repatriate the Yen.
After the Christchurch earthquake, the Australian and New Zealand dollars both were traded heavily. After the earthquake in Japan, the jpy gained massively.
The Most Recent Natural Disaster: 8.9 Earthquake Hits Japan, Tsunami Hits Japan, Russia, Hawaii, US West Coast
Friends, just a few minutes ago an 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan unleashing a massive Tsunami. I will do my best to update this post in real time.
What can I do to protect my family?
I have been asked by many people already this morning on how you can protect your family and love ones from such a disaster. The only thing that I can tell you is to be as prepared as you can. Do you have a disaster kit? Also, if a disaster were to hit and you were separated from your family, do they know where to meet you? Set a common place that everyone can find and remember and set a way to keep in touch or to locate each other – assume your cell phones were not working. About the disaster kits, my family has one that we could afford, but I also put a 2-man disaster kit in my daughter’s car and one in my godson’s car. Is it a save-all? Of course not, but at least I know that I tried to do all that I could.
Japan Evacuating Area Around Fukushima Nuclear Reactor
8:42 am est – I am hearing now about the evacuation of the population around the nuclear reactor. I amy be spelling the name incorrectly.
Nuclear Reactor Failure
Current update at 8:17am est – Japan is reporting a potential nuclear power plant leak. The Japan nuclear power plants are supposed to be able to withstand about a 7.2 earthquake – this earthquake was off the coast and 8.9.
1000 people trapped on top of school in Japan
They are saying that the Tsunami waters have trapped approximately 1000 people on the roof of a school in Japan. It is only 35 degrees F and raining… I feel so bad for these people and wish that I could help them.

Many people are wondering if what has happened to Japan is a sign from the Mayan calendar. …or even a prophecy of Nostradamus. Of course there is no clear cut answer to that. We can wonder about what the end of the Mayan calendar means, but until December 2012, no one will truly know. As for Nostradamus, his predictions are just so vague that it really is rather easy to point at a certain event and then to an eerily similar quatrain and say, “Aha! Nostradamus knew all along!”
I know that my “A World Without Japan” title has intrigued some, worried others, and made the rest mad. So what do I mean?
Well, Japan is a world leader in industry. Some would even say THE world leader in the electronics industry. According to BBC News, Japan is the world’s second largest economy. What is going to happen to Sony? Toyota? Toshiba? Fujitsu? Subaru? Panasonic? Epson? Sharp? This list can go on for a very long time.
Sony is headquartered in Tokyo and has shut down and evacuated major facilities. They have six enormous facilities located around Miyagi and Fukushima. (Yes, THAT Fukushima.) Fujitsu lost a factory in Iwata due to the earthquake. Toshiba has lost 2 factories. Toyota and Subaru both had to close three plants.

The same picture AFTER the tsunami.
Now, I am not saying Japan cannot nor will not recover and rebuild. I mean, we are talking about a country that had two atomic bombs dropped on it almost 70 years ago. They are resilient. However, Americans merely have to look at the destruction in New Orleans and Mississippi that still has not been repaired, an entire area that has not recovered from Katrina, to know that somethings are lost for good.
We have all seen the stock markets. We have all seen the death tolls – over 4,000 dead and almost 8,000 missing.
Furthermore, the nuclear reactor news is not getting better. Another fire in another reactor. They were going to try and drop water from helicopters, but the radiation was too high. What happens if these blow?
My question is: What will the world be like without Japan? Without the same Japan as a world leader? What do you think?
Does the Mayan calendar predict this sort of thing? NO. However, Dr. Michael Coe said in 1966 that the ending of the Mayan calendar could be an Armageddon type event. In the light of THAT statement, then yes, this disaster could be viewed as a precursor for things to come.
