October 21st Doomsday

Great news!  Harold Camping wasn’t wrong after all, he had just made another mathematical error.  It turns out that the new date is actually October 21st 2011.  You see, Harold Camping had originally predicted the rapture for 1994.  When he was wrong then (and his followers had sold their homes and given all their money away), he said it was a simple mathematical error.  The real date was May 21 2011.  This was great news for all those who had lost their life savings – it gave them another 17 years to save up enough money to give it all away again.

Now, we should not be too hard on the poor bedraggled Harold Camping or his October 21st doomsday.  He is really, really sorry that so many of his followers gave away all their money and belongings…  Wait… this just in, it turns out Harold Camping is not sorry at all.  I guess he is still a millionaire.  Well, I mean, maybe deep down in his heart he really is sorry.  Wait… oh crap… this just in, it turns out that Harold Camping has no heart.  Don’t worry about him though – he fills the void with your donations.

So, here is the thing, Harold Camping says that he has made another slight mistake. Now it is an October 21st Doomsday date. Also, this time he is really, really super sure he has it right.

Besides, third time is a charm right? I mean, right?

So, here is what I want to know:  what do you think about the October 21st Doomsday date?  Are you ready?  Do you think Harold Camping can get enough donations to pay for another huge media blitz in the next 5 months?  Aren’t all his followers broke?

I guess they could just repaint all those buses.  They don’t even have to paint the whole thing – they can just paint over the month and turn “May” into “October.”

If you think that job is hard, imagine being one of those poor old church ladies that have to use white out on all those religious pamphlets!  They are running an old church lady sweat shop in the basement of Harold’s Family Radio church!  These old ladies white out the May 21st date and then after it dries they write in “October 21st Doomsday!

If a guy gets a prediction wrong three times, chances are he will never get it right. If you were like Camping’s followers who gave away all their possessions and had to start from scratch, or you were hit by the 2008 global financial crisis and you are basically starting from scratch anyway, then this might just be a way to help you get started once more. Iceland Volcano, Earthquakes, Harold Camping, and May 21st 2011!

Well, Harold Camping was right!  I told you so!

  • Harold Camping predicted an earthquake on May 21st that would start the rapture.

FACT: Volacano in Iceland erupts creating around 50 earthquakes.

So, Harold Camping was right x50!  Face it people!

  • Harold Camping predicted that the pure and moral would be raptured today.

FACT: No one has left yet – proving that there are, in fact, no pure people on earth.  Apparently God did not want you – at least not today, not yet.

So, Harold Camping is right once again.  Get over it – you lose, you doubting Thomas!

  • I knew Harold Camping was right all along!

FACT: I have actually said he was wrong all along, but that was because I was testing you.  Yeah, I was just seeing if you were truly committed.

So, I am proven a genius.  I am smarter than you.  It’s ok though – maybe your talents lie in other areas, like letters or numbers.  Don’t be ashamed – slightly embarrassed is ok though.

Please tell me that you do not believe in this May 21st Doomsday or Rapture.  Well, if you do, you will be raptured or destroyed – so you better do whatever you want to do REALLY quick!

I just wrote an article on the Zombie Apocalypse – and not only was that article more fun to write, but is is also more likely to happen.

Do I believe that God will return and that there will one day be an end to this world.  Yes, I do.

Do I believe it will be a May 21st Doomsday? NO!

Here are several reasons why you should not believe in the May 21st Doomsday or Rapture either:

1.  Harold Camping has predicted this same end of the world before.  Surprise, he was wrong then too.  Harold said it was a mathematical error and moved the date… twice.

2.  Harold Camping’s employees at his many religious radio stations are still creating and planning programming beyond May 21st.  Hello?  If they are all raptured, who the hell is running the radio station?  Are they getting a Noah sized boatload of atheists to run there radio stations while they are gone?

3.  Harold Camping sent a crazy “goodbye” letter to all his employees that reads like a Jim Jones lovefest.  Do NOT drink the kool-aid at the next company picnic!  Just saying.

4.  According to CNN, Harold’s Family Radio is supposed to file their non-profit paperwork in July.  Well, July is clearly after May 21st – so there is no reason to worry about the paperwork, right?  You would think so if the craziness was real.  However, they filed for an extension until November.  maybe they are getting all those atheist temp workers a bit more time to catch up.

5.  All of a sudden they are talking about there being an earthquake to usher in their May 21st Doomsday.  Come on people!  They saw all the earthquake hype after the Japan quake and so they manipulated that to their own advantage.  That is just pathetic.

Anyway, have you heard about the FaceBook looting event that is planned?  Pretty funny really – they are planning on looting all the empty homes and businesses after they are all taken away in the May 21st Rapture.

Well, I hope that I have helped to alleviate your fears here just a little bit.

Here is another great idea.  Bet everyone you know that the May 21st Doomsday will not happen.  Seriously, $1 here, $5 there, and the rare $100 wager.  Then, if you are wrong, they will be gone and you won’t have to pay anyway!

PS – What will Harold Camping say on May 22nd?  Will he be dead?  Will he have made another mathematical error?  Will he have laughed all the way to the bank after so many donated their life savings?

Tell me in the comments below!  See you on May 22nd.

Is May 21st, 2011, the end of the world or what?

Well, its May 21st and everyone is still here.  Apparently there is still time… no one is supposed to disappear yet until supper time.  I always eat late so I guess you have a few more hours.  The harbinger earthquake has been given a few different times too, but 6:00 pm seems to be a favorite.  Only 4 hours left here – but I guess California has over 7 hours.

May 21st 2011 is now just hours away.  Seeing all the comments below and also all the facebook “likes,” I am just marveled at the amount of exposure this one lone article has received.  I kept getting this question and I had avoided answering it on this site because I am trying just to focus on Mayan predictions .  However, my wife asked me about this date, my father has asked me about this date, and the emails kept on coming…  so here it is”

will the world end on may 21st 2011May 21st 2011 has nothing to do with the Mayans or the 2012 date at all.  May 21st 2011 is a date that has been made famous by a radio preacher from California.  Harold Camping, 89, first said that the world would end in 1994 – when that did not happen he said that he had made a mathematical error and that the new date would be May 21st 2011.

According to Harold, the world was created in 11,003 B.C. and then flooded 4990 B.C. Using these two dates, Harold has decided that the 23-year tribulation started in 1988. So that leaves 2011 as Judgment day.

However, is Harold claiming the world will end in on May 21st 2011?  Actually, no. Harold Camping believes that the rapture will occur on May 21st.  The actual end of the world, he predicts, is October 21st, 2011.

Do I agree with Harold Camping? No, of course not.  I hold no animosity for him, but I do not agree with him.

So, what about 2012?

Will the world end in 2012? The Mayan Long Count Calendar ends on December 21st 2012 (after over 5000 years). Does that mean the end of the world? No – although a lot of people do seem to think so. I think it will be the end of an age – but I also think the new age will start the next morning. Will this date be marked by a huge event of some kind? I don’t know that for sure either – lets wait and see.
