2012 – Is this New Year Our Last? Will the World End?

Is the end of the world in 2012?2012!  It seems like everyone is talking about it.  Will the world end?  Is this new year our last?

Hey everyone, please consider this an op-ed piece.  I will be happy to update this article with answers to any questions you may post below in the comments.

First, allow me to go on record and say that THE WORLD WILL NOT END IN 2012! There is nothing in the Mayan writings (that survived) to indicate anything different.  Yes, the long count calendar does finally come to an end in December of 2012, but that is all.  Nothing there suggests world destruction.  An end to an age, yes.  World destruction or Armageddon, no.

I know that you have seen the article on my site: 5 Signs the World Will End in 2012 (or even my viral YouTube video 5 Signs the World Will End in 2012).  I created them because so many people were asking about the subject.  I was sure to end the article with my personal opinion – I do not believe the world will end in 2012.

The YouTube video was really created just to add a link to my site – a way to help people find MayanPredictions.net – definitely not something I have to worry about now!  Today, New Years Eve, I have over 20k visitors.  The traffic has even shut the site down twice today.  Even that horrible video has over 50k views – the counter is stuck on 43k but it has been that way for awhile now.

All this has told me that so many people are absolutely riveted with the idea of the apocalypse – the end of the world!  I get so many questions:

Will the world end in 2012?  How will the world end in 2012?  Why will the world end in 2012?

So, allow me to answer these questions for you.

  1. Will the world end in 2012?

  2. The answer is no.  At least, there is no better chance than any other year in the history of the world.  Nothing according to the Mayans or Nostradamus or I-Ching or any other damn thing.  Is a world ending event possible?  Sure, just ask the dinosaurs!  However, the Mayans have absolutely nothing to do with a world ending event.  There 5000+ year calendar cycle does come to an end at dawn on December 21st, 2012.  (Remember, the Mayan day begins and ends at dawn – not midnight.)  However, that signifies the end to an age – not the world.

  3. How will the world end in 2012?Is 2012 the end of the world?

  4. Well, the Nostradamus view has always been a meteor, comet, or nuclear war – depending on how you interpreted the quatrains.  Another popular belief that has been gaining ground recently has been an earthquake.  Other options are the polar shift, solar flares, and a rogue planet collision.

The truth is that none of these have any real factual basis.  Could we enter another ice age?  Yes, eventually, that will certainly happen, but it isn’t like it would be instantaneous.  Could we be hit by a meteor or comet large enough to change the world?  Yep.  Will the poles shift?  Yes, it has happened before!

Look, the earth has been here a lot longer than the human race and will definitely be here long after we are a distant memory.  Short of an Alderaan type incident, I am sure the earth will be just fine.

  5. Why will the world end in 2012?

  6. The real question here I think is – “Why do people BELIEVE the world will end in 2012?

The answer is because of just one guy – Michael Coe.  Yep, it is his fault!  Now, before you start thinking Michael Coe is just a crackpot, know that he is an archeologist with a doctorate from Harvard who has worked for the CIA.  No joke.

Dr Michael Coe – one of the greatest living experts on ancient Mayan civilization – said (in 1966) that the end of the Mayan calendar could actually be the biblical Armageddon.  That’s it.  That’s what really started it all!  Now, for nearly 50 years, we  have been building this up in our social conscience.  The powder keg is about to explode.

Do you have more questions for me? Feel free to post them below and I will answer them for you.

Planet Nibiru

Planet Nibiru

With latest technology, it is not difficult to look out into Space. Not only can astronomers search for solar systems and stars, they can also look out for any asteroid or comet heading for the Earth. However, recently one of the strangest objects have been caught advancing to the earth; the Planet X. NASA discovered the mysterious planet in 1984. However, historians have found that Planet X was depicted in tablets and wall carvings that date back to the Sumerian civilization. The Sumerians referred to Planet X as Planet Nibiru. Furthermore, the Planet Nibiru was claimed to be authentic according to a Wisconsin woman known as Nancy Lieder. She claimed that as a girl she was contacted by extraterrestrials known as Zetas, who has supposedly implanted a communications device in her brain. In doing so she received information from these aliens about the coming of Planet Nibiru. So what does Planet Nibiru have in relation to Armageddon prophesied in December 21st 2012? Furthermore, why is this issue a target for criticism?

On December 21st 2012, Planet Nibiru is expected to pass between the Earth and the Sun which would cause a gravitational pull. This pull is expected to stop the Earth’s rotation which would in turn result in a 90 degree positional or polar shift causing a shock wave of radiation from pole to pole. On the arrival of Planet Nibiru, all satellites and communications links are expected to fail. Scientists are unable to determine whether the planet would collide with the Earth at the moment. In the event it does, it is pretty certain a polar shift would not be the only cause for concern.

However, there are skeptics that claim that there is no such planet as Planet Nibiru. The prophecy concerning the Armageddon is based on other issues such as the ending of the Mayan calendar. Most believe Planet Nibiru is an internet hoax. Nancy Lieder supposedly claimed publicly that the Earth would face destruction with the coming of Planet Nibiru in May 2003. However, as soon as the date passed she had to postpone it conveniently to December 21st 2012.

As with all the prophecies regarding the Armageddon in 2012, Planet Nibiru is certainly one to take note of. Since the existence of the planet has come from different sources and ancient civilizations, it is possible to class it as a legit prediction. Until the actual time comes, there is no way of predicting which of the prophecies are true. The best way is to research on them more and prepare yourself for the worst.

Armageddon: December 21st 2012

Armageddon: December 21st 2012

Armageddon: December 21st 2012

The term “Armageddon” is cited several times in almost every religious scripture such as the Bible and the Holy Qu’uran. It is defined as the final battle between good and evil, which is prophesied to coincide with the end of time. Recently, there has been quite a lot of focus on a particular date with regards to the end of the world – December 21st 2012. Many believe that the Armageddon is to take place on the aforementioned date. There are several reasons behind this assumption including the astronomical evidence and theories put forward by Ancient Mayans and science itself. Religion has also had quite a significant role to play in the culmination of this assumption.

The word “Armageddon” appears in the Bible in Revelation 16:16, signifying the final battle between Christ and the Antichrist. It predicts the end of days beginning with many natural disasters and wars. However, the Bible does not state the exact date; rather, it reveals certain signs to watch out for. Conversely, Armageddon is predicted to be on December 21st, 2012, according to the Ancient Mayans.

The theory of the Ancient Mayans is quite similar to that of the Bible. The Mayans’ prediction of many natural disasters and economic chaos are issues that are deemed to be the precursors of the apparent 21-12-2012 Armageddon. This specific date is when the 5,125 year-old Mayan calendar comes to an end, resetting to 0.0.0.0. Theories have evolved over time suggesting a nasty catalyst to be involved. From polar shifts to asteroids, many presumptions have been put forward. In addition, science plays a key role in this prediction due to the involvement of the earth.

Scientists have been plagued with regards to the end of the world. In scientific terms it only refers to the end of mankind, as it is believed that there is the possibility of other planets in the solar system capable of supporting life. Many scientists do believe a polar shift is due to occur, where the Earth’s magnetic poles (North and South Poles) switch sides. This could cause many disasters in the form of simultaneous volcanic eruptions, shattering earthquakes, and massive tidal waves. Another theory involves an asteroid or meteoroid hitting the earth. NASA has predicted a sharp increase in the number of sunspots and sunflares in the year 2012. This can create a number of electrical failures and satellite disruptions.

Armageddon on December 21st, 2012, might not happen; nevertheless, it is useful to be prepared for the worst. It is important to understand that most of these predictions are theories and are not factual. Although much of the hubbub stems from the Mayan calendar restarting, it is important to acknowledge that this does not necessarily mean the end of days. Rather it might hint at a possible change or new beginning for the earth in many ways.
