Mayan Predictions for the Year 2012

Mayan Predictions
The Mayan prediction for 2012 is quite a vital aspect when examining the end of the world. Although prepared centuries ago, the Mayan civilization had quite an accurate calendar that is somewhat similar to the Gregorian calendar. However, unlike the Gregorian calendar, this 5,125 year old calendar would come to an end on December 21st 2012. Is this Mayan 2012 prediction an implication of the end of life on Earth on this particular date? The best way to understand this theory is to research on the Mayans and their writings.
Several thousands of years ago, the Mayan civilization existed in Central America. Skilled in mathematics and astrology, the Mayans were able to create calendars based on several calculations. Although they were quite ruthless in their ways, they were able to foretell future events with great accuracy.
The infamous calendar the world is getting quite concerned about is based on 5,125 years that represent the fourth world period. It is known as the Long Count calendar. The calendar is responsible for predicting the invasion of the Spanish explorer Cortez and his conquistadors on March 5th 1519 accurately. Thus, it is quite a cause for concern when the calendar reaches its end on December 21st 2012. This Mayan 2012 prediction possibly implies the end of life on Earth and a new beginning; a fifth world. Furthermore, the Mayans’ prediction for 2012 may forecast a galactic alignment occurring on December 21st 2012. The sun would rise in the dark rift of our galaxy on this particular date. During this time the Earth would be in exact alignment with the sun and the center of our Milky Way galaxy. This event happens every 25,800 years. Does this Mayan 2012 prediction really predict death and destruction to life?
The Mayan calendar does predict an end, but it does not necessarily mean death for life on Earth. Rather, the Mayans foretold a time for a spiritual transition. The world would enter a time of great tribulation. In addition, astronomers do argue that the galactic alignment does take place normally during winter.
The Mayan 2012 predictions are quite fascinating as most of the events prophesied have actually taken place. Moreover, these predictions were made several thousand years earlier; thus, being rather overwhelming. However, the best way to approach the situation is to research more on these prophecies and try to understand them. This would allow you to prepare yourself for what is to come. These events might take place but keep in mind, life has survived despite the several disasters that have occurred in the past.

The Mayan’s seemed very intelligent. I think it is more on how we interpret their signs. This was thousands of years ago. I do not know if the people interpreting their calender are interpreting it based on the Mayans or incorporating it blending it with their own knowledge of space and calendar.
