California Earthquake Prediction
A recent article making a California earthquake prediction for 2011 by Simon Winchester of Newsweek has taken the web by storm. Because the article came direct from Newsweek, a respected source, many people have become alarmed. The backlash against the article’s author was almost instantaneous.

The Newsweek article claims that earthquakes follow each other in a discernible pattern. An earthquake on one side of the world can trigger another earthquake on the other side of the world by adding stress to the fault lines along the tectonic plates. It is an interesting theory and does appear to have some recent evidence to back it up:
- On February 27th 2010 there was an 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile. At the time, this was the 6th largest earthquake ever recorded on the Richter scale. The resulting tsunami had waves as high as 10 feet reaching parts of the world
- On February 22nd of this year there was a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in New Zealand. This has been called an aftershock by some authorities from the 7.1 magnitude earthquake from September 2010.
- On March 11th there was the apocalyptic 9.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Japan resulting in the tsunami felt halfway across the globe.
The article explains that the Chile quake was in the southeast corner, the New Zealand earthquake was in the southwest corner, and the Japan earthquake was in the northwest corner…

Therefore, this only leaves the northeast corner of the tectonic plate – along the San Andreas fault – San Fransisco, California.
Now, the author only claims this is a possible – even logical – assertion. He does not go as far as to make the California earthquake prediction… just that it is possible.
He calls the three previous earthquakes in the other three corners of the tectonic plates “triggering events.” And he does seem to say an earthquake in California is not a matter of “If” but “When?”
The 1906 California earthquake and resulting fire is regarded as one of the greatest natural disasters in US history with over 3000 dead. The 1906 earthquake along the San Andreas Fault is estimated anywhere from a 7.7 to an 8.3 in magnitude.
2011 California Earthquake Hoax?
Now, as we all know, if you are going to even HINT at a prediction, you better be ready for the intense backlash. The Newsweek author is a not exactly a scientist and so he is wearing it as far as the scientific community is concerned. Yahoo News reports that a panel of geophysicists were questioned about a possible connection between the four corners of the Pacific Rim and they responded that no such evidence existed. They did not, however, go so far as to promise that no catastrophic California earthquake was possible …or even probable.
The bottom line from the Yahoo News article is that a 1906 type earthquake should only happen once every 200 years and that there is only a 2% chance that any such earthquake will occur there in the near future.
Let’s all hope they are right!

I don’t know. I like scientific thinking, but making predictions is kind of like working. You go to work and you find something that no one is doing or wants to do. You do it. If it works out, everybody and their fairy godmother has to put their 2 cents in for their little bit of credit for sitting on their duff and doing nothing.
i got my prediction pretty much on the nose this morning and i feel it getting bigger 6 to 8 mag within a few hours to few days. so be aware. i have never been wrong on my earthquakes . i feel them before they happen..
im never wrong with my predictions. dec. 20th 2011 within this week a signifigante earthquake. possibly inside u. s. 3 to 6 pointer . could be larger else where.
All the freeways and developement in the last sixty years of los angeles and the bay area under two hundred feet of angry ocean! Millions of humans lost , inland cities shaken to the ground ! under a red-full moon , thats my prediction for February 2012 ! But I see something even more evil , I see a heavy set man , in a suit and tie standind on the top of a sierra mountain yelling to the sky , ” Im a developer and im going to rebuild california “!
jehovah has spoken to people = dreams, visions, prepare food,water, items to survive at least 3 yrs maybe , big earthquake coming , etc….

Yes, all this shaking is starting to put my INSTINCTS on hyper alert. It just feels like we are owed a big one along our ring of fire somewhere up the coast, or down. The Washington predictions are particularly troublesome. We need to keep asking our angels to protect us and everyone in harm’s way. I had a troubling tsunami dream quite a while ago and I was pulled into it. It really plays with your imagination. God Bless us all!!!

What can us people do if this world really dose end there,s no words to explain that feeling
well today is the day it all comes up too our lives can end or the can keep continuing.
I remember watching this programme on Tv about about this woman who has premonitions. Everything she sees comes true and she was very concerned and anxious about it as it she saw a major earthquake in california. She saw a world atlas and said the shape of united states of america would change as the whole of west coast would not be there. I think she mentioned some of the east being gone too and said japan would completely dissapear off the map aswell.
I reckon if these predictions are going to happen then they will probably be in decades to come and perhaps not so in the near future. I mean alot of people have mentioned they get very vivid and prophetic dreams about the california earthquake so they all can’t be wrong.

I dreamed that I was on a spaceship, And I was eating Dolphin, Not Tuna laced with Dolphin, but Oven Roasted Dolphin. My dinner Guest was a Dolphin, He spoke Mandarin, so I couldn’t understand him, but he was eating dolphin too, which made him a Cannibal. He seemed to have no moral misgivings so I relaxed and Enjoyed the meal. Then Ringo Starr and what’s left of the Bee-Gees Performed live for us while we finished our Dinner. After dinner, the Dolphin, myself, and Ringo Proceeded to Stomp the hell out of the Bee-Gees in full contact Trivial Pursuit. oh and then there was an earthquake in California.
I woke up sweating, and promptly made my self a tuna sandwich, which was delicious.

Don’t be. People have been predicting another big one for California since 1906.
I don’t believe the next big earthquake will occur along the San Andreas. The danger area is the continental margin subduction zone beginning in northern CA and going north through Oregon and Washington. We’ll see. I don’t know much, just what I’ve learned.
There are quite a few NASA and other astronomical charts showing the impact of gravitational pull and magnetic forces effects on magma etc. with regard to the Comet Elinin /Planet X/ Niburu (from ancient records) asteroid belt fallout from earth passing thru the path after the alignment is over, etc. that seem pretty scientifically credible. I am not a physicist, but I am a researcher, and this does sound deadly serious. Why/how do you think Alaskan faults are more vulnerable than others in the near future?
I have predicted earthquakes through dreams, mainly when I was a teenager. I would remember my dreams and I have actually told friends that an earthquake was about to happen minutes before it did. i had a dream about a week ago about a 7.2 on the border of San Diego and Mexico. It was very real. I have been feeling “shaking” and I have been waking lately thinking we are having an earthquake. I am not sure if that is a dream or a real feeling….but anyway I thought I would let you know what I dreamed, I hope it does not come t rue this time!

The Northeast corner by the way is Seattle and parts of Alaska from what I read. Seattle is especially susceptable. Since it is a subduction fault zone, a major tsunami would likely follow a major quake in the subduction zone.

I dreamt there will be a magnitude 8.0 to 10.0+ earthquake in California likely before the end of the year (2011). But definitely before the end of next year (2012). Portions of Los Angeles will be leveled.

I too had a vivid dream back in October 2010 about a devastating volcanic eruption that will occur mid-July 2011 in the Santa Barbara region extending inland about 300-500 miles. The roads were completely obliterated and there were no survivors, no ambulance, no police…just silence. The casualties were extensive.
Surely enough, there were signs of volcanic unrest @ Long Valley, CA at the end of June and the recent cluster of earthquakes that occurred on July 15th are usually a precurser of an imminent volcanic eruption.

just to be curious, do you know what the san andreas fault might do? like i know they said it might set off volcanoes and such… and that this new alignment will bring us some brutal disasters
Well, just look at the damage to the 1906 quake. It is the last major earthquake along the San Andreas fault.
what we need are some metropolitan bad shakers.blue collar jobs will skyrocket,lots of people on the tax rolls,I’m surprized sacto hasn’t figured how to generate one just for the cash.
I have developed theory of quake prediction using gravity of planets and Moon and angles of planets, declinations of Moon and Sun etc. I have sent this theory and predictions to many scientists and USGS last 5 years. Note that my theory can NOT predict location of quake yet. So it need improvement. Theory does show most past quake dates ( range of 4 to 5 days ) , including 11th march 2011 ( very low gravity and quakes ) similar like 18th Apr. 1906 San Fransisco ( low gravity and quake ) . Note that there are some days in Apr. and May 2011 ( like 3rd and 9th/10th ) which will have very low gravity from Moon and planets. There are some other extreme days with high gravity like full moon days ( like 17th/18th ) . Stay bit careful, but note that place of quake can NOT be predicted . I have sent details of theory and dates to USGS and some other scientists.

Oh, a date to watch by the way for another large earthquake should be between the dates of 15th and 26th of May 2011. Location possibly Alaska Aleutian Islands. Why? All the planets alligned one sided to the sun. And on the 15th the moon will be at its perigee. However, they normally happen on the return to apogee from Perigee maybe around the 16th. The last big one in Alaska was in 1964. And I am saying Alaska as it is the next point of strain from Japan.

I have discovered a 110 year equinoctial cycle for Sun and Moon (not planets) gravity at (my) 6.8 degree N. Lat.

Can you tell me a bit about it please. I believe there is an aditional cycle to the suns 11 year cycle making a greater picture. Volcano errupts in alaska today also 4.9 quake.

Truly a scary though. It is inevitable at some point, its just when it will happen. I hope the people of California have been watching closely and are getting prepared.
There are earthquakes everyday in California.
Once every 200 years is a crude average, it could be today or in 100 years from now.
I think they meant a major California earthquake like the one in 1906 along the San Andreas Fault. They did say there was still a 2% of one happening anytime within the next 30 years.

Well that is an easy one. My California earthquake prediction: yes, there WILL be an earthquake in California. I am not saying it will be along the San Andreas Fault or that it will be major. …I am also not saying when. You see, you can’t throw a stick and not hit a fault line in California. I think predicting a California earthquake eventually is a pretty safe bet.

I just traded California quakes for Florida hurricanes!
Not only do I believe that the California earthquake is going to take the Baja peninsula, the majority of California and the southwestern corner of Oregon and twist the whole mess into a new unrecognizable shape, but I also believe that this is going to trigger volcanic eruptions which will start in Alaska and include yellow stone, reno and a other major volcanoes throughout the world I don’t know the names too.
I read Joe Brandt’s dream and it was so real, I cried, he had this prophetic dream in 1937. And I have read many and this one got me.
