A World Without Japan
Mayan Predictions: A World Without Japan
Japan disaster by the numbers:
- 7,300+ Dead

- 10,900+ Missing
- 300,000+ Evacuated
- 250,000+ Without Power
- 1,000,000+ Without Water
- 117,000+ Buildings Damaged
- 14,000+ Buildings Destroyed
- $180+ Billion Economic Losses
Many people are wondering if what has happened to Japan is a sign from the Mayan calendar. …or even a prophecy of Nostradamus. Of course there is no clear cut answer to that. We can wonder about what the end of the Mayan calendar means, but until December 2012, no one will truly know. As for Nostradamus, his predictions are just so vague that it really is rather easy to point at a certain event and then to an eerily similar quatrain and say, “Aha! Nostradamus knew all along!”
I know that my “A World Without Japan” title has intrigued some, worried others, and made the rest mad. So what do I mean?
Well, Japan is a world leader in industry. Some would even say THE world leader in the electronics industry. According to BBC News, Japan is the world’s second largest economy. What is going to happen to Sony? Toyota? Toshiba? Fujitsu? Subaru? Panasonic? Epson? Sharp? This list can go on for a very long time.
Sony is headquartered in Tokyo and has shut down and evacuated major facilities. They have six enormous facilities located around Miyagi and Fukushima. (Yes, THAT Fukushima.) Fujitsu lost a factory in Iwata due to the earthquake. Toshiba has lost 2 factories. Toyota and Subaru both had to close three plants.

The same picture AFTER the tsunami.
Now, I am not saying Japan cannot nor will not recover and rebuild. I mean, we are talking about a country that had two atomic bombs dropped on it almost 70 years ago. They are resilient. However, Americans merely have to look at the destruction in New Orleans and Mississippi that still has not been repaired, an entire area that has not recovered from Katrina, to know that somethings are lost for good.
We have all seen the stock markets. We have all seen the death tolls – over 4,000 dead and almost 8,000 missing.
Furthermore, the nuclear reactor news is not getting better. Another fire in another reactor. They were going to try and drop water from helicopters, but the radiation was too high. What happens if these blow?
My question is: What will the world be like without Japan? Without the same Japan as a world leader? What do you think?
Does the Mayan calendar predict this sort of thing? NO. However, Dr. Michael Coe said in 1966 that the ending of the Mayan calendar could be an Armageddon type event. In the light of THAT statement, then yes, this disaster could be viewed as a precursor for things to come.

A world without japan? now that would be interesting. What was the world like before japan started producing cars, ipods , energy , expensive clothing? It was simple. My prediction is that without japan alot will change there will be an economic meltdown for businesses (untill they build new factories to replace the ones in japan) and there would be less energy in the world. who knows this could be the almighty God’s way of fixing earth.
Japan is full of sin. There is a lot nasy sex trade, greedy civillians and an unfair balance between the rich and poor. Maybe God has made this happen. To remove sin from the world? Evidence of this would be the story of Noah’s arch. I do not believe the story of Noah and his arc. But I think it was half true. Like there was a flood that wiped away sin.
Name a country that is NOT full of sin though. UK? USA? Glass Houses
Wtf are you smoking?
Cars: USA was the first to mass produce, and most ‘Japanese’ cars are manufactured close to their markets (i.e. in the USA, or europe)
Ipods: Made in China
Clothing: Made in China/Latin America
Japan makes a lot less than you think.
Katie, you are a dumb ignorant person. You need to travel more and explore the world. You are stupid and need a reality check outside that bubble of yours. Stupid girl.
Good Post!
my thoughts go out to japan, at times like this you have got to think yourself lucky.
one question that i have for anyone who has the brain power to work it out is, if their had never been a war or natural disaster in the last say, 200 years, would it make a huge difference to the population figures now,
thanks

great site by the way!
That is a great question. Just considering the US alone because of the Civil War or the entire world after WII… it is mind boggling!
In their time the Mayans were very much like the Japanese of today. A mighty powerful Advanced Empire that seemed INVINCIBLE only to be brought down first by Nature than deasease’s after Europeans arrived. In WW2, Japan was young demographics but now the population has aged that they may not be able to rebuild like WW2. First Japan brought down by Nature than Radiation will finnish the job much like Desease’s finished off the downed Mayans. I guess the term All Empires Rise and Fall is true after all.
Wow, that is really harsh, but you do raise some very interesting points. There is no evidence that diseased finished off the Mayans though. No one really knows what happened to them.
duh! They got in the UFO and bounced! They will be back soon.
About the Mayans, you might be surprised how many people actually believe that. There is an element that believes that they left and that they are coming back at the end of the Mayan long count calendar.
now thats what i call a holiday, they will be pissed when they see what we have done with the place.
I know, right? Haha
Well like you said I think that the Japanese will be able to recover, they are resilient.
I think the initial economic woes were expected. The fact that the area involved does not have a huge impact on most of their production is a plus.
Had this taken place closer to Tokyo I think there would be different circumstances.

Yes, donating to the Red Cross is a good idea, but be cautious as there are many scams out there. Your best bet is just to go straight to redcross.org. Do not use any other links unless you can trust the source.
